Michael's Support is a lifeline
A Glimpse Into Life at Green Pastures Southport

Southport holds a special place in the heart of Green Pastures - it’s where our journey first began. Among the dedicated team there is Michael, one of our incredible support workers. Michael not only provides exceptional care but has also built genuine, lasting friendships with many of the residents.
During a recent visit, I had the joy of meeting some of the people he supports. Their excitement was contagious as they proudly showed off their brand-new washing machine in their flat - the first new appliance they had ever owned. In their enthusiasm to get it running, they weren’t aware the stabilising rods needed to be removed first (something I didn’t know either!). So when they turned it on, it bounced around the room before the mystery was solved and everything worked perfectly.
Inspired by his neighbour’s upgrade, another resident next door decided to get the same washing machine. But this one had a different issue - it wouldn’t start at all. Everything was connected, but nothing was happening. After a bit of investigation, the cause was revealed: the water hose was still plugged at the end, stopping the flow completely! Once that was sorted, his machine ran like a dream too.
These simple moments, full of pride, laughter, and learning are beautiful reminders of the real-life impact of what we do. And they’re made possible every day by support workers like Michael, whose care and dedication make Green Pastures feel like home.
