From Rock Bottom to Renewal
Warren's journey from streets to thriving

Warren hit rock bottom after an accident at work left him addicted to painkillers. It cost him everything and he became homeless. However there's always hope in the darkness and as he called out to God, things shifted.
"I never imagined I’d end up homeless. It all started with an accident on a building site that left me in serious pain. I was prescribed painkillers, but over time I became heavily addicted. Before I knew it, everything in my life began to unravel—my job, my home, my relationships. I ended up sofa surfing, crashing on friends’ couches, and eventually found myself living on the streets.
For three years, I carried my life in a bag. I stayed in a homeless shelter in Leigh for a while and officially declared myself homeless. During that time, I never believed in God. In fact, I dismissed the idea completely. But one day, in utter desperation, I prayed. I didn’t even know what to say—I just reached out.
Then something incredible happened. I received a phone call from the housing department. They referred me to Homes of Hope, a Christian charity. That got me thinking: maybe God really is out there. Maybe He was listening.
Through Homes of Hope, I was introduced to the local pastor and started attending church. Being homeless isn’t just about lacking a roof—it’s about lacking safety, support, and the chance to rebuild. That’s what Homes of Hope, Green Pastures, and similar housing groups offer. They’re more than accommodation; they’re a lifeline.
Since moving into Homes of Hope, everything has changed. I’m completely clean now—the withdrawal symptoms have even gone. I attend discipleship meetings regularly, and six weeks ago, I started working again. My back is healed—honestly, I believe God is the greatest healer.
What’s missing for so many people on the streets is a sense of hope, of purpose, of someone truly caring. I found that through God and through the people He placed in my path. I pray that others out there will be helped too—and that they’ll come to know the love and support I’ve found."
